You’ve arrived at Level 8: Brown Belt, the gateway into advanced guitar playing. This level represents a major milestone in your Guitar Ninja journey — you’re no longer working only on core skills or intermediate development, but now exploring concepts and techniques that rival what you’d study in the second year of a tertiary music degree.
Brown Belt focuses on expanding both your technical command of the guitar and your theoretical understanding of music. The material here will challenge your limits and demand precision, creativity, and dedication.
Here’s what to expect:
- Advanced theory: extended harmony, complex scales, and sophisticated approaches to improvisation and composition
- Advanced techniques: pushing your speed, accuracy, dynamics, and stylistic versatility further than ever before
- Study pieces and exercises: carefully designed to integrate theory with performance and prepare you for professional-level playing
How it works:
- Each level has its own book and online course with detailed video instruction.
- To level up, complete the checklist at the start of your book, as well as the advanced theory and technique exercises in your Guitar Ninjas Workbook.
- Brown Belt typically takes 6–12 months to complete, depending on your consistency and depth of practice.
By the end of Brown Belt, you’ll have the skills and knowledge to perform, write, and improvise at a truly advanced level. This stage is demanding, but it will transform you into a highly capable and versatile guitarist — one step away from Black Belt mastery.
